Kyogo wanted Celtic hattrick against Rangers as grateful Parkhead hero reveals the key to derby delight

Kyogo says the Celtic fans were a big driver behind a crucial win over Rangers - as he admits his own documentary left him red-faced.

The Japanese striker made it another brace against his club's Glasgow rivals in the 3-2 win over Rangers that puts Ange Postecoglou's side 12 points clear in first. They take on Kilmarnock this weekend and stand three games away from the title, and their Japanese hero says that a big reason for that is the love they received from Parkhead, which housed only home fans with away punters locked out.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Kyogo was hoping to make it a hat-trick, but puts collective success above all else: "It is great we got the result that we wanted. I am glad we were able to win this difficult game with everyone united by the wonderful support of our supporters, and I happy I could score two goals in that game. I am happy to score a goal like that in front of a big home crowd that makes everyone smile. The whole place was filled with our fans and I was able to feel the supporters cheering us on from the bottom of their hearts.

Kyogo Furuhashi has reflected on derby success (Celtic TV)

"I am glad we were able to win and that came from the constant support of our supporters. I was hoping to get a shot at it if I had the chance (a hat-trick) but our priority is for the team to win.

"I work for the team and hope to get a chance in that circumstance."

Prior to the match, FIFA released a documentary centering on the Japanese forward, which has been translated into English. While he did enjoy the doc, he admitted: "I was a little shy about watching it myself.

"So I thought I would not watch it live, but I had time to watch it so I watched it live. It was a little embarrasing to watch my own documentary but I am grateful for the good show they put on."
