Celtic hitman Kyogo is the star of a new documentary that is taking his homeland by storm as he spoke to cameras about his lockout from the Japanese national side.
Kyogo has been in red hot form for Celtic this season and his repeated exclusion from the Japan squads has been a source of frustration for fans in his homeland. He's netted 26 goals in 39 appearances but both he and teammate Reo Hatate were overlooked for the latest squad - after also missing out on the World Cup.
But that hasn't made Kyogo any less popular in his homeland and TV network Jounetsu have aired an hour-long documentary looking into his career and his rise since moving to Glasgow under Ange Postecoglou. It aired at 11pm Japan standard time - around 3pm in the UK - and has already caught fire.
The tweet teasing it was retweeted more than 2,700 times while the online version of the documentary, which is only currently available with Japanese audio and no English subtitles, has been 'favourited' on their website by 347,000 viewers. And while fans in the UK will struggle to view the content currently due to region locks and the language barrier, snippets from it have been translated on Twitter.
Addressing his lockout by Japan, Kyogo is quoted as saying: "I can't help but talk about the past, so I look ahead and decide the goals that will help the team win," while he humbly added: "I think I am not good enough yet. Everyone can connect with just one ball.. Football is great."
