Ange Postecoglou has revealed why Kyogo was not part of Celtic's squad for their Rangers clash on Sunday.
Kyogo has not featured since Boxing Day through injury but was fit and available for the Ibrox trip.
Postecoglou had hinted at a return in the powderkeg clash, suggesting he'd be in a big match return no matter the opponent.
Matchday arrived but the Japanese striker was nowhere to be seen on the teamsheet.
And his manager explained he felt his side could do the business without him.
"Yes he’ll be fine [for St Johnstone]," Postecoglou told BBC.
"He was desperate to play today but when I look at our run-in we’ve got some massive games.
"He’s such an important player for us and I thought today we could handle it without him.
“To be fair he tried everything. Everywhere I turned he popped up in front of me to make sure I knew he was ready to go.
"I couldn’t walk around Lennoxtown without seeing him.
“But we’ll keep him on ice. He’s ready to go, he’ll be fine and he’ll be involved next week.”
Celts won 2-1 thanks to goals from Tom Rogic and Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Aaron Ramsey had opened the scoring.
