Kyogo & Jota Celtic transfer deals to be done in next 24 hours, says Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Jota is closing in on a transfer return to Celtic with Kyogo Furuhashi set to depart.

The Japanese forward informed Celtic chiefs of his desire to leave the clubs a few months ago and is now expected to finalise a move to Ligue 1 club Rennes.

Celtic, will, though sign Jota from Rennes in a major January transfer window piece of business in the next 24 hours barring any last-minute hitches.

On Kyogo's proposed departure, Rodgers said: "He has obviously travelled for a medical and what not so that will probably be confirmed I would say in the next 24 hours.

"He was one of our top players and someone who fit perfectly into how we want to play.

"Kyogo had expressed an interest to leave a number of months back and then that expression becomes stronger and then it comes to the stage where he wants to leave.

"Sadly, we have to then do a deal and look to finalise that for him. He has been an incredible player for the club. He is not someone that we wanted to lose."

Discussing Jota, he said: "Likewise, it is not finalised yet but a player that clearly would be an incredible addition to our squad given what he has done before and his qualities.

"Hopefully, we can confirm that in the next 24 hours."
