Kyogo Furuhashi injury latest as Ange Postecoglou lays out minimum recovery timescale

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has warned fans not to expect a swift return for Kyogo Furuhashi.

The Japan forward has missed games either side of the winter break because of a hamstring problem and Postecoglou had expected further clarity this week after stating on Monday he would be out for at least two to three weeks.

Asked about as possible return for the 27-year-old, the Hoops boss says it is still likely to be a "number of weeks" away.

Hopes had been raised that Kyogo would be fit for the visit of Rangers on February 1 after it emerged he would not be called up by Japan for their World Cup qualifiers.

However, the latest prognosis would appear to rule that out.

Postecoglou said: "We are still sort of working through that but suffice to say it's not going to be a quick return.

"I'm reluctant to put any time frame on it, just for the player himself, I think it's unfair that I do that, but we are still looking at a number of weeks at the moment.

"Hopefully we will get some clarity, there are still some things they want to see if it settles down, but we are looking at a number of weeks at this point."
