Kyogo Furuhashi is confident his move to Rennes will be a success.
The Japanese striker has struggled to adapt to life in France and has had limited game time since making the move to Ligue 1 in the summer.
The former Celtic forward is yet to score for his new club and has played just four times for Rennes, three times from the bench.
However, Kyogo is certain his switch will come good as he backed himself to earn more game time.
He told Tokyo Sports, as translated by the Daily Record: "I am gaining confidence. I'm putting my all into the game and showing my skills every day, and my time is increasing little by little.
"I think I'm almost there. I will actively work on it and practice onwards for next season."
Kyogo is keen to keep his spot in the Japan national team, too, having been involved in the recent camp.
He said: "If I could have entered training with more strength, we could have seen a slightly different scene I want to be able to break through.
"I hope to be called up to the next national team again."

Kyogo previously admitted he was "depressed and frustrated" to miss out on international recognition while at Celtic.
He said: "It was really frustrating, to be honest I think the announcement of the squad was on the day we were traveling for the Champions League away game.
"I couldn't let it dwell on me.
"To be honest, I was really depressed and frustrated, but I had to play in the Champions League, so I did my best to switch gears."
