Kyogo and Starfelt Celtic injury update as Postecoglou rates Real Madrid return chances

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has provided an injury update on Kyogo Furuhashi and Carl Starfelt after their crushing victory over Rangers.

The Hoops made light work of their Glasgow rivals to go five points clear at the top of the Premiership with a 4-0 victory. Liel Abada got the ball rolling early with his first goal and made it a brace before half-time, with Jota and David Turnbull also chipping in with strikes to make it a memorable day at Parkhead.

There's not long to wait for their next big game as Real Madrid come to Glasgow as Celtic begin their Champions League campaign but there is concern for Furuhashi and Starfelt ahead of it. The Japanese forward suffered a shoulder injury in the first minute and despite trying to carry on, soon had to be replaced by Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Starfelt meanwhile suffered a knee injury, a blow for him after missing all of pre-season with a fitness concern after international duty with Sweden.

Postecoglou says it was a small thing for his defender but he was left disappointed by the injury suffered early doors by his forward.

He told Sportsound: "We'll see how it is. It was a shoulder injury [for Kyogo]. Carl had a niggle in his knee. It's a bit of blow because Kyogo has been in brilliant form so far this season. We'll assess them after this."
