Kym Marsh was forced to pull out of presenting duties on Morning Live after wowing audiences on Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend. The former Coronation Street star and professional dance partner Graziano Di Prima came a close joint second on the leaderboard following their passionate performance.
The pair couldn't keep their eyes off each other after they finished their sensational Argentine tango to John Powell’s Assassin’s Tango. Wearing all black, Kym secured a score of 37 with a routine filled with lifts and high kicks.
As they were given their critique, Italian dancer Graziano appeared overwhelmed thanks to a series of first. It is the first time he has made it this far (week seven) in the competition and the first time he was able to perform an Argentine Tango in the Strictly ballroom.
Craig Revel Horwood noted that apart from Marsh’s raised shoulders he felt it was "absolutely perfect" while Anton Du Beke praised her intensity and said he “loved it". And head judge Shirley Ballas said she felt it was “by far one of the most accomplished routines" she has seen Kym perform.
The pair even ended up getting their first 10, awarded by Anton, and as the duo celebrated, Kym, 46, confessed: "I could cry," as she was overcome with emotion. On Sunday night, Strictly fans saw Kym and Graziano make it through to week eight but the pair have already been hit by a stumbling block.
On Monday (November 7), Kym was unable to host the latest episode of BBC's Morning Live with Gethin Jones as she had "caught a bug" on Sunday. Gethin and Oti Mabuse, who had stepped in to replace the usual host, were given a health update by Kym when she appeared on the BBC One show via video link.
Kym, who plays Michelle Connor for 13 years in Corrie, told the hosts she was determined to recover so she could dance again on Saturday evening with her partner Graziano.
"Good morning, usually I would be joined by Kym Marsh on the swivel chair but unfortunately Kym isn't feeling great so Oti Mabuse has stepped in and it's always lovely to see you," Gethin started the latest edition of the chat show.
Gethin revealed Kym was on the phone with her doctor on Sunday night as she was not feeling well. He said: "We thought we would give her a call this morning to see how she is doing after Saturday night." Kym, wearing a cosy pink jumper, then appeared speaking live from her Warrington home.
She said: "I'm all right, I just caught a little bug off one of the children, unfortunately. I caught it yesterday on the train on the way home so that was nice." Gethin appeared concerned about Kym being dance-fit for the next show.
But she optimistically replied: "Yeah, I will be, I will pull myself through. It's only one of those 24-hour things and I think you have got to get out there and do it no matter what, even if you've got bits dropping off. You've got to get out there and go for it, otherwise what happens?"
