Kym Marsh left 'shaken' after phone stolen in London two weeks ago

Kym Marsh has revealed that her phone was stolen in London two weeks ago.

The Morning Live presenter, 48, said the incident - which she says happened on Buckingham Palace Road at 9.30pm - left her feeling “really vulnerable”.

Speaking to her co-host Gethin Jones, she said: “It is quite a scary thing to happen to you, you're walking down a road and then all of a sudden something's taken out of your hand.”

“I felt really vulnerable, I was really shaken,” she continued, in a clip made for the programme.

“I immediately wanted to get help but, of course, it's not so easy when you don't have your phone.”

Jones added that he didn’t realise Marsh had her phone stolen when she reached out saying she had new contact details.

“I felt really really bad because Kym messaged me saying 'I've changed my number' and I wrote back something quite aggressive like 'you've changed your number again? You always do that' then I realised what had happened.”

Marsh also said she was devastated to lose messages from her dad, David, who passed away earlier this year of prostate cancer.

“I’ve now lost messages that my dad sent me and things I can never get back,” she added. “It’s that emotional side of it.”

Marsh is far from the only person to have their phone stolen in the capital within the past few months - recent figures show the Metropolitan Police seized more than 1,000 stolen mobile phones from thieves in a week.

The Met has advised people to keep devices out of sight when not being used and to “be aware of your surroundings.

“Only use your mobile when it feels safe to,” the force added.

Global cybersecurity advisor for ESET Jake Moore also told the Standard: “It is important to be aware of your surroundings and know the hotspots in London, such as Oxford Street and Soho.

“Back up your data to the cloud and make sure tracking apps are enabled, such as Find My iPhone or Google’s Find My Device.

He also advised people “to use biometrics to open apps, such as email and social media, so they can’t be tampered with if they are stolen.”
