Kylie Minogue has insisted Conor McGregor asked for a picture after the pair were spotted at Cannes Film Festival.
The high-profile pop star was spotted at the world premiere of Elvis alongside the former UFC double-champion and his fiancee Dee Devlin. Fans were quick to voice their concern at Minogue hanging out with McGregor, pointing out his brazen antics outside of the cage.
Minogue was surprised at the amount of attention the images received and admitted her three nephews even got into touch over the post. "I just bumped into him after the Elvis premiere in Cannes," Minogue said on Late Night with Seth Meyers after confirming McGregor asked her for a picture. "My three nephews are 11, 13 and 16. So I get a message from one of them saying, 'You met Conor McGregor?' There is so many moments that I didn't think would travel that far but I was excited. Given a minute I might have asked for a picture as well."
Fans were quick to express their dissatisfaction after the 53-year-old posted the image on her social media, with one writing "Kylie what is this? This isn’t you," before another added "Kylie is gorg [sic] but he’s… not the one." Despite a negative reception by many, Minogue was backed by her sister who posted "Yasssss" underneath the image.
McGregor was more supportive in his response to the image commenting with a love heart emoji before sharing images of his fiancee Devlin with Minogue on his own social media. The Irishman has been holidaying in some of the world's most plush destinations as he continues to make his recovery from a broken leg.
He was spotted last year hanging out with Canadian musician Justin Bieber, and has frequently been pictured around a whole host of star-studded names during his career. McGregor downplayed taking an interest in a celebrity lifestyle, despite worries that his rise to stardom has had a negative impact on his UFC career.

The 33-year-old has just one win in his previous four outings in the octagon and has yet to fight since suffering back-to-back defeats against Dustin Poirier last year. UFC rival Henry Cejudo believes McGregor's career is being restricted by his fame and has encouraged him to cash out and face Jake Paul in the boxing ring.
“ Conor McGregor in 2016, he did walk that walk," Cejudo said. "But guess what man, his persona is over, he’s not that dude anymore. People know that it’s just an act and he doesn’t have that juice no more. To me, he’s just a dude that at one point was able to manipulate himself to world titles and people bought into it.
"But I think he’s so stubborn and around yes men. He won’t get better, he’s stuck in his own fame. That’s my two cents on Conor McTapper. I think he should fight Jake Paul, I think these two dudes are meant for each other. I think they can go on a damn honeymoon afterward too.”
