Kylian Mbappe transfer pledge made as he prepares for England World Cup showdown

La Liga president Javier Tebas believes Kylian Mbappe will leave Paris Saint-Germain to join a Spanish club in 2023.

Mbappe signed a new three-year contract at the Parc des Princes earlier this year after prolonged links with a move to Real Madrid. Recent reports have claimed that he wants to leave PSG in January, as his future was once again thrust into the limelight in October.

Mbappe's eye-watering contract details were leaked as the Ligue 1 champions posted recorded losses of £317million for their most recent set of accounts. It is the latest problem for the striker in the French capital and comes amid his ongoing reported feud with attacking teammate Neymar.

Mbappe initially refused to commit his future to PSG following suggestions of an exit. "For now, a second World Cup. After that, I don't know," the France international said ahead of the tournament when quizzed on his alleged transfer request.

Mbappe scored two stunning goals as France eased into the World Cup quarter-finals with a comfortable victory over Poland on Sunday. It continued a superb tournament for the striker, who has moved on to five goals in three starts.

The PSG superstar had already netted twice to fire France to a deserved 2-1 victory over Denmark in the group stage of the tournament, having previously found the back of the net in France's opening-game 4-1 victory over Australia.

Yet at the conclusion of the World Cup, it is likely that attention will once again turn back to Mbappe’s future at club level. Tebas, speaking in Qatar, brought up the PSG striker unprompted while giving a speech this week.

“Hopefully, the best players in La Liga will continue to play here,” Tebas said. “We would love [Lionel] Messi to come back and when he leaves football, let it be in our league, and maybe even if Cristiano [Ronaldo] decides to return to our league to play.

“I think Mbappe will also play in our league at some point, be it now or next season. That will depend on what money he wants to ask for, of course.”

Following Spain’s elimination from the World Cup by Morocco, Tebas also spoke about the future of the national team boss Luis Enrique. He said: “I have no idea what will happen. He will have to decide his future. He is a coach with a great future ahead of him. I would like for him to think about clubs in La Liga.”
