Kylian Mbappe slams PSG in scathing statement after supporter controversy

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has aired his ‘disagreement’ with the French club after a video was sent to supporters encouraging them to renew their season tickets.

The striker has been left disgruntled at being the poster boy for the reigning Ligue 1 champions’ campaign. He featured at the heart of a video sent to current season ticket holders where he was expressing his affection for the club.

Interestingly, neither of his glittering attacking colleagues - Lionel Messi nor Neymar - feature as they continue to be linked with moves away from the Parc des Princes. Taking to Instagram with a statement, Mbappe wrote: “I have just taken part in the viewing of the club's renewal campaign for the 23/24 season.

“At no time was I informed of the content of the interview with my interlocutor. It looked like a basic interview at a club marketing day. I disagree with this posted video.

“That's why I fight for individual image rights. PSG is a big club and a big family, but it is certainly not Kylian Saint-Germain. Cordially.”

The disagreement with PSG is just the latest in a long line of uneasy goings-on for Mbappe at the Parc des Princes. He was continually linked with a move to Real Madrid over the past few years only to put pen to paper on a new contract in the French capital, leaving Los Blancos president Florentino Perez furious.

Meanwhile, there has been huge controversy around Christophe Galtier’s captain at the Parc des Princes. Marquinhos is the club’s captain but in his absence, Mbappe has claimed the armband - a decision that previously wrangled with French defender Presnel Kimpembe.

Despite the controversy surrounding him this season, Mbappe has still managed to shine on the pitch. The 24-year-old has 31 goals to his name in all competitions and managed to break the club’s goalscoring record - overtaking former Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani in the process.

Speaking during the promotional video sent to supporters, he said: "The environment, the terrain, the atmosphere… The Parc des Princes involves many things, it is the 12th man, it is what gives us additional strength to fight our battles.

"To be Parisian is to be proud of who you are, of what you represent, proud of being ambitious, of wanting to do things, of wanting to win, of always improving yourself and never forgetting where we come from.

"I am also speaking on behalf of all the players, of the entire club, of those who have not been able to come, to show you how important you are to us.

"Unfortunately, we can't always manifest it. We'd like to do more, we can always do more , but here it is. It's not us with you, it's all together.

“I know this year hasn't been the best of years. We didn't meet the expectations of the club, yours and ours too. We all want to continue together to finish the season well, win the championship..."
