Paris Saint-Germain will post club recorded losses of £317million for their most recent set of accounts as Kylian Mbappe's eye-watering contract details were leaked.
Mbappe signed a new three-year contract at the Parc des Princes earlier this year. Recent reports have claimed that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January, as his future was once again thrust into the limelight earlier this month.
He initially refused to commit his future to PSG following suggestions of an exit. "For now, a second World Cup," the France international recently said when quizzed on his alleged transfer request. "After that, I don't know."
These figures came amid a flurry of arrivals in the summer transfer of 2021 in which they invested heavily in their first-team squad. Les Parisiens managed to sign both Lionel Messi from Barcelona in a high-profile summer transfer and Sergio Ramos – the outgoing captains of Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively – alongside a host of other household names.
Goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma - who was crowned Player of Euro 2020 – also arrived following his exit from Milan while Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum joined as a free agent after he left Liverpool. They joined wing-backs Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes in joining the ranks of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
Mitchel Bakker was the only first-team squad player who exited permanently during that window. Remarkably, the club’s wage bill for the 2019-20 season had exceeded the combined total of 14 of their 19 rivals in Ligue 1.

As detailed by a report in L’Equipe, PSG will post a record loss of £317million for the 2021-22 season with Mbappe’s new contract counting for a large portion of the losses. It has been reported in France that over the course of three years, Mbappe’s contract will cost the club a whopping £540million – with a third of that (£180m) being included in last season’s accounts.
It is also outlined how Les Parisiens had a record income of £686million for the campaign but they also had to pay a fine of £8.5million to UEFA over their losses, having negotiated that down from an initial £55million fine from European football’s governing body.
Under the negotiated terms of the agreement, the club will have to have a maximum deficit of £50million in net income per year and their wage bill will have to be progressively reduced, to not exceed 70 percent of their income from the 2025-26 season.
PSG once again splashed out in the most recent summer transfer window – which is not included in their latest set of accounts – in a window which included the arrivals of Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, Carlos Soler, Nordi Mukiele and Renato Sanches.
