Kylian Mbappe ‘fine’ after injury blow on eve of PSG clash with Real Madrid, confirms Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Kylian Mbappe is feeling “fine” despite suffering an injury to his foot on the eve of Paris Saint-Germain’s clash with Real Madrid.

The striker was caught by Idrissa Gueye in training ahead of the Champions League trip to Spain, for the second leg of their last-16 tie which PSG lead 1-0 on aggregate.

There were fears Mbappe would miss the match, against a team which is attempting to sign him in the summer, but Les Parisiens boss Pochettino is confident that he will be fit to play.

“We talked, he's fine,” the manager confirmed.

“At the time, he was crying out and he was in pain. But he could walk easily two hours later. I hope he can train well after the press conference.”

Pochettino outlined his confidence that Mbappe, who scored the only goal in the first leg, will focus on delivering PSG to the quarter-finals amid the speculation over his future.

“I think he lacks a bit of naturalness,” he said. “Sometimes we talk too much. We are calm with Kylian, that's clear.

“He is mature even if he is young. I don't doubt Kylian. He won't change his way of playing because of what's happening on the outside.”
