Kylian Mbappe feud with Neymar and anger at delayed PSG wages as club post £317m losses

Kylian Mbappe's dissatisfaction at Paris Saint-Germain reportedly grew recently after the club failed to pay the striker on time.

Mbappe signed a new three-year contract at the Parc des Princes earlier this year. Recent reports have claimed that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January, as his future was once again thrust into the limelight last month.

Mbappe's eye-watering contract details were leaked as the French champions posted recorded losses of £317million for their most recent set of accounts. It is the latest problem for the striker at the Parc des Princes, as it comes amid his ongoing reported feud with attacking teammate Neymar.

Mbappe and Neymar fell out over the order of penalty-takers earlier this season in a Ligue 1 clash as the fractious relationship between the two came to light. Former Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos was reportedly forced to step in to separate the feuding pair and boss Christophe Galtier staged a first-team meeting in which the two were rebuked.

Mbappe initially refused to commit his future to PSG following suggestions of an exit. "For now, a second World Cup," the France international recently said when quizzed on his alleged transfer request. "After that, I don't know." Now, fresh reasons for his discontent have come to light.

As reported by L'Equipe, Mbappe was left deeply frustrated and annoyed by one of his payments from Les Parisiens being late earlier this season. It is suggested that the striker was the only player to have been left waiting for his wage, with Lionel Messi and Neymar – on a comparable wage packet – not reported to have had any waiting time.

It is said that the timing of Mbappe's late payment coincided with the fresh reports over his desire to leave the French capital, despite penning a new long-term deal less than six months ago. Now the Frenchman's future looks to once again be in the spotlight.

Have Your Say! Will Mbappe stay with PSG beyond this season? Tell us what you think here.

As detailed by a report in L'Equipe last month, PSG will post a record loss of £317million for the 2021-22 season with Mbappe's new contract counting for a large portion of the losses. The striker's deal in total is said to cost the club in the region of £540million – with a third of that already paid out.

Yet the delay in Mbappe's payment, coupled with the striker's renewed discontent with his situation at the club and apparently fractured relationships with teammates, is likely to lead to fresh speculation over the 23-year-old's future.
