Kylian Mbappe confirms Liverpool transfer talks with Jurgen Klopp

Kylian Mbappe has claimed he held talks over a potential move to join Liverpool on two separate occasions.

The 23-year-old forward recently signed a new three-year deal to remain at the Ligue 1 side, putting an end to recent speculation over his future. Real Madrid were firm favourites to secure the services of Mbappe on a free transfer this summer, having failed in their efforts to recruit the 2018 World Cup winner last year.

Liverpool have been tentatively linked with the talented forward throughout this whole saga, though it appears the possibility of a move to Anfield was at least considered by the France international.

Shedding light on how a move to Anfield was a consideration this summer, Mbappe exclusively told the Telegraph: “We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit."

This summer is not the first time he has been a player in high demand, however, with clubs also circling for his signature in 2017 after emerging as a breakout star at AS Monaco. It was PSG who won the race in the end, initially signing Mbappe on loan becoming make this permanent, beating off outside interest from a number of other clubs.

Liverpool were again in the running on this occasion, which led to a meeting between Mbappe and Liverpool in Monaco as discussions were held.

“I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her! “It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club," revealed the PSG star.
