It was a World Cup campaign to remember for France, at least until the final. And then it was a memorable occasion, even if they came out on the wrong side of the scoreline against Lionel Messi's Argentina.
The French breezed through their group, able to lose to Tunisia in the final match as they had already qualified. They then went on to see off Poland, England and Morocco before that penalty shootout drama against Argentina.
One of the teams they beat on their route to the final was Australia, who against the odds joined them in qualifying from the group stages.

France won that clash 4-1 - their first game of the tournament - setting the standard for what was to follow. But rather than be in good moods after the contest, it seems some of the players took a less than friendly approach.
Scottish-born Aussie star Jason Cummings explained how he tried to swap shirts with not one but two players before eventually getting a coveted shirt of a third Les Bleus star.
Speaking to Channel 10 show The Project, he said: "After the France game, I actually tried to get [Kylian] Mbappe. I went for the top boy Mbappe – and he told me to meet him in the changing rooms. So I went to the changing room and the kit man was there and I gave him my top and 10 minutes later he came out with my jersey and says 'Nah, absolutely not, (Mbappe) doesn't want to swap'.
"So when I was walking back to my changing room and I've seen [Olivier] Giroud as handsome as ever, and I asked him, 'Giroud, please man, can I get your shirt, man? I'm a big fan, can I get your shirt?' And he just walked past me, pretended he never spoke English! And he's been in the Premier League for 10 years! He just walked right past me!"
Cummings did manage to get the shirt of defender Jules Kounde, however - the Barcelona man, who was a transfer target for Chelsea last summer.
He added: "I did get Kounde’s, at Barcelona, and he was a great bloke.”
