Kyle Walker has been left at home for Manchester City’s trip to Brentford as his future appears to be away from the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola announced Walker had expressed his desire to leave City, after leaving the England international out of their FA Cup third round victory over Salford City.
The Spaniard since stated that he won’t block Walker from leaving – after previously turning down a bid from Bayern Munich after their treble-winning season.
AC Milan are leading the race to sign him on loan until the end of the season. However, city rivals Inter are also interested in the 34-year-old.
Walker has made 18 appearances for Man City this season. However, it appears that his cameo in the 4-1 outing against West Ham earlier this month could be his last game for the club.
The Daily Mail have reported that Walker was not among the arrivals with the Man City squad ahead of their Premier League clash with Brentford on Tuesday night.
Guardiola Won’t Block Kyle Walker Exit
Pep Guardiola is not entertaining the prospect of keeping Kyle Walker against his will. The Man City star has made it clear he wants to leave the club.
Walker, 34, has played 319 games for Man City since joining from Spurs in July 2017. He has helped the team to six Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League trophy, among other honours.
Along with clubs in Italy, Walker has also been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.
The Mail though claim that Walker is keen on playing his football in Europe for his family and to save his marriage to Annie Kilner.
Speaking of Walker’s potential exit, Guardiola said: “Kyle Walker is an incredible player with his incredible physicality. When he is focused he is unstoppable as a right-back. He’s a top-class player.
“If he is fit he can play one, two, three, four more years as a professional. I have never seen a player with these physical conditions in my career. But if he wants to explore, the club is going to explore, and he has to decide, not me. It’s not my decision.
“It depends on him. The transfer window will finish when it finishes and I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
