Kyle Walker explains where Man City are going wrong after Tottenham loss

Kyle Walker believes Manchester City need to start putting all of their possession to use and start creating more clear-cut chances.

City failed to capitalise on Arsenal's defeat to Everton on Saturday and make up the gap on the league leaders as they lost to the other team from North London. A spirited and tireless Tottenham deservedly beat the Blues 1-0 with Harry Kane's record-breaking goal the difference.

Other than a Riyad Mahrez shot that rattled the crossbar, City had few opportunities in the match, with most of their five shots on target coming from outside of the box. Walker believes it needs to change.

"For me it's just creating chances," he told Sky Sports when asked what was going wrong. "I'm not being negative with anyone but it's certain things that we can do in and around the box we can improve on, making that clear-cut chance.

"Keeper makes a save or it's a parry or there are seconds, just creating more of the clear-cut action rather than having great possession outside the box. Sometimes you need to have shots and get shots on target."

The defender also explained how challenging it is to play against a compact Spurs side. He continued: "It's difficult, I think when you've got five at the back, two holding, three that are just going to run in behind with Harry dropping it's always going to be how much do you go forward without conceding too much at the back.

"It's a little bit of a cat and mouse. Listen, a couple of chances go in that we had, the Riyad one, it could be a different game. The momentum swings in your favour but listen, they've got the win, they've dug out the result and we definitely could have done better."
