Kyle McClelland wanted by West Ham as looming Rangers free agent causes EPL stir

West Ham have joined the race for Rangers youngster Kyle McClelland who is set to walk away from the club on a free.

Record Sport understands the talented youngster has said no to a new contract at Ibrox and will walk away in the summer.

There is extensive interest south of the border and David Moyes' West Ham have now thrown their hat in the ring alongside English Championship sides such as Sheffield United, Cardiff City and Huddersfield.

The Northern Ireland youth international has spent time on loan at Falkirk previously and is highly rated at Ibrox.

But the defender is expected to find it hard to break into the first team and has rejected the chance to stay at the club.

Now 20 he will be keen on gaining first-team experience.

West Ham keep a keen eye on rising stars north of the border and landed Armstrong Oko-Flex from Celtic last summer.

McClelland is yet to make his top team debut for Rangers but has been a regular for the Colts team in the Lowland League.

He will be allowed to leave for free with Rangers only commanding a percentage of his next sale.
