Kyle McClelland to leave Rangers as English Championship sides line up for B team star

Kyle McClelland will be allowed to leave Rangers this summer if a satisfactory deal arises.

The Northern Ireland Under-21 cap will be let go – as long as Gers chiefs are able to secure a sell-on clause in a potential transfer.

McClelland is sought after with interest coming from English Championship sides such as Sheffield United, Cardiff City and Huddersfield.

And the 20-year-old has been a regular in the Rangers B squad that finished second above Celtic B in the Lowland League.

His contract is up this summer and he is keen to get more top team action.

Rangers rate the Irishman highly but with the emergence of Leon King it was going to be hard for him to force his way into Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first-team.

18-year-old King started in the Premiership home clash against Dundee United at the weekend while fellow young talents Charlie McCann, Alex Lowry and Adam Devine came off the bench.
