Kyle Magennis LEAVES Hibs and joins Kilmarnock after Easter Road exit

Kyle Magennis has LEFT Hibs and joined Kilmarnock.

The Easter Road club have come to an agreement with the midfielder to terminate his contract this summer. The 24-year-old joined the club back in October 2020 and made 49 top team appearances but injuries have hampered his game-time in the capital with the club and player now deciding to part ways.

Boss Lee Johnson has wished his departing star all the very best for the future and says he will always be welcome in Leith as he now seeks a fresh challenge and new club ahead of the new season. The Hibees boss said: “Kyle was a well-respected member of the squad, and we wish him well for the future. He will always be welcome at Easter Road.”

A short club statement read: "We can confirm that Kyle Magennis has left Hibernian FC.

"The club and the 24-year-old midfielder have come to an agreement to terminate his contract this summer.

"Magennis joined Hibs back in October 2020 and has gone on to make 49 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals. Unfortunately, his game-time was severely hampered due to injury."

On his move to new club Kilmarnock, he told the official club website: “The gaffer has always been interested in me and he’s someone I wanted to work with, so over the past few weeks the move has fallen into place.

“It’s a fresh start for me. I’ve had a tough few seasons with injuries, but I’m feeling good and ready to go. I know that if I’m playing, I’ll be a big asset to the club.
