Kyle Lafferty insists he has "unfinished business" after completing a short-term return to Kilmarnock.
The Northern Ireland striker has joined the Championship promotion hopefuls until the end of the season.
Lafferty recently agreed his release from Cypriot club Anorthosis Famagusta and had become a free agent.
A number of clubs in England and Scotland had been monitoring the 34-year-old, who had a short spell with Kilmarnock last season under former manager Tommy Wright, scoring 13 goals in as many games.
Irish Premiership champions Linfield were also being linked with a move for the striker, but now he is returning to Scotland to help Killie in their promotion bid from the Championship.
“It’s a great feeling to be back at Kilmarnock, I feel I have unfinished business here," Lafferty said.
“The last time I played here we were relegated, which was a low point in my career so to get the opportunity to fix that and get Killie promoted back to the Premiership is something I’m excited about.
“I’m a huge admirer of Derek and his work at Aberdeen and getting the chance to work with him is really exciting.”
