Kyle Lafferty investigation launched as Kilmarnock probe alleged 'sectarian comment'

Kilmarnock have launched an investigation into an alleged sectarian comment by Rugby Park striker Kyle Lafferty.

A clip has emerged of the Northern Ireland international speaking to fans in a bar.

The video starts with Lafferty preparing to pose for a photo with a man who, as the clip is being filmed, says, “Up the Celts”.

After stepping away, Lafferty, 35, is then alleged to have used sectarian language.

The clip has gone viral and his club Kilmarnock have today confirmed that an investigation will take place.

A club statement reads: "Kilmarnock Football Club are aware of a video circulating online which appears to show a member of our playing staff using language of a sectarian nature.

"The club finds all forms of discriminatory behaviour completely unacceptable. The matter will be investigated by the club."
