Kyle Hamilton cautions against Ravens fan panicking after 0-2 start

The Baltimore Ravens are 0-2 after two weeks, and they rank dead last, 32nd out of 32 teams, in passing yards allowed per game.

Strong safety Kyle Hamilton has cautioned Ravens fans against panicking, telling the media on Friday:

“I don’t think it’s time to pull the fire alarm yet.”

Up next for the Ravens is a visit to “America’s Team,” the Dallas Cowboys, in a nationally televised FOX “game of the week.”

Heading into this marquee matchup, Hamilton said that the players have been working hard to try and correct their mistakes.

He also cautioned against reading too much into the passing yards allowed per game statistics.

“We got to be more tied up in the back end, and we’ve had extra meetings,” he told reporters, before then offering up a new spin on the less than flattering pass defense stats.

“I don’t think we get caught up too much in numbers, but I think we’re knocking the run out so much that teams kind of abandon it,” he said.

“And that skews the passing numbers a little bit…because once you can’t run the ball, you got to pass it, or punt it.”

There is truth to what he’s saying about teams that can’t run and often focus strictly on the pass. However, this still doesn’t excuse the high pass efficiency numbers that Hamilton and the rest of his position group mates are allowing.

Through two weeks, the Ravens are allowing a 76% completion percentage. No matter how many rushing yards you’re giving up, whether the number is high or low, it’s unacceptable to let your opponents complete more than 3/4 of their pass attempts against you.

That is not a winning recipe.
