Kye Whyte's rumoured Dancing on Ice skater love interest - and why it will never work

Everyone's heard of the infamous Strictly curse, but it is rumoured that the Dancing On Ice equivalent is worse.

As contestants spend hours rehearsing with their partners, it's inevitable that sparks start to fly, and relationships begin to crumble.

And it appears might have struck again as it is believed 22-year-old BMX Olympic Kye Whyte has fallen for Morgan Swales, one of the pro dancers in the fourteenth series of the hit show.

But there's a hitch. Morgan, also 22, already has a boyfriend back at home.

The Sheffield skater is in a relationship with ice hockey player Cole Shudra and has been for the last six years.

A show source said: "Kye is so funny backstage and loves to flirt with all the women," reports The Sun.

"But the poor lad has his eyes set on the one girl he can’t have."

They said when she shared a loving Instagram message to Cole on Valentine's Day, it was clear she had no interest in pursuing anything with Kye.

"That doesn’t stop him flirting, though," they added.

Morgan was just nine years old when she started figure skating. Since then she has competed on the national and international stages.

She went on to win the 2019 British championships, fifth place at the August 2021 British qualifiers and a place competing in the 2021 British championships.

Reminiscing on how she first got into skating, she said: "I first started ice skating at the age of nine and this came from seeing Dancing on Ice on TV.

"I just wanted to have a go. So I pestered my mum into letting me start having lessons."

Kye, who grew up in Peckham, recently revealed that his mum Tracy, who is battling leukaemia, was his inspiration behind going on the show.

He said: "Doing this show, I think, is making her proud and making her fight even more because she’s looking at me and thinking, ‘Yeah, that’s my son. I want to see him achieve good’."

He posted a loving tribute to the woman who 'birthed him' on Instagram, where he asked his fans to "pray" for her.

Under a photo of his mother, he wrote: "Hi guys. This is my mum Tracey. She birthed me, raised me and looked after me well.

"Right now she is very ill and has been diagnosed with leukaemia. I want to ask everyone to pray and have her in your hearts.

"Just one thing I’ll beg for anyone to do is just have my mum in your hearts and prayers, thank you.

"Let’s fight mum."
