A designer shoe shop which has been trading since the sixties has closed its doors in Newcastle city centre.
Kurt Geiger has been a part of the UK high street since 1963, when it opened its first store on Bond Street in London. But the retailer's Newcastle branch in Eldon Square has now closed down.
The store, which was located Hotspur Way next to Boots has stood empty for a number of days. However, plans for the unit have now been announced, with the shopping centre confirming the return of another footwear store which previously traded in the centre.

Eldon Square confirmed that renovation and rebranding will begin imminently at the unit and OFFICE will reopen in the former Kurt Geiger unit in July. OFFICE ceased trading in Eldon Square earlier this year after vacating their unit close to Claire's Accessories and Levi's.
Cormac Hamilton, General Manager at Eldon Square commented: "Following the recent exit of Kurt Geiger at Eldon Square, we can confirm OFFICE will be reopening in the centre in the newly refurbished unit next month. Bringing back a community favourite, we are continuing to ensure that we provide the brands our shoppers love.
"OFFICE's new store location will sit beside other well-known brands, such as Boots and John Lewis. We will continue to update on store changes and look forward to seeing what the future holds at Eldon Square."
