Kulusevski, Romero, Richarlison: Tottenham injury news and return dates ahead of Marseille clash

Tottenham face Marseille this evening (Tuesday) in the biggest game of their season so far.

Having bounced back from defeats to Manchester United and Newcastle, as well as the disappointment of drawing to Sporting Lisbon on matchday five of the Champions League, Antonio Conte knows the simple nature of what Spurs have to do.

Avoiding defeat in France will be enough to secure qualification for the knockout phase of the competition and winning will ensure top spot is also theirs. Things won't be as easy as that though, with Marseille, Sporting Lisbon and Frankfurt all able to finish top of a very tight group.

The French side themselves are playing for qualification into the last-16 and will have home advantage as well as the knowledge that Conte has to watch the game from the stands after his red card against Sporting last week.

Spurs have also been dealt a great blow with their squad fitness as well. Here, football.london looks at the latest with the injury news ahead of the match.

Richarlison

The Brazilian is yet to feature again after coming off injured as a second-half substitute against Everton with a calf-strain.

There were initial fears over his recovery before the World Cup but the player himself issued a message on Twitter addressing that. He said: "Guys, thank God it was just a big scare!! Two weeks and I'll be back! Thank you for the messages and affection."

Conte also said the same thing last week: "No, absolutely not. No, I can confirm this, that the player is not risking to not play at the World Cup. Absolutely."

Richarlison wasn't part of the team that faced Bournemouth and didn't train ahead of the trip to France.

Expected return date: Leeds (H), November 12th.

Cristian Romero

The defender was a doubt after appearing against Sporting Lisbon and missed matches against Newcastle and Bournemouth either side of the Champions League game.

When asked about his fitness before the 3-2 win at the Vitality Stadium, Conte said, "We have taken a big, big risk for this decision. Especially for Cuti, for Romero, because he was really tired and we risked him a lot. But you know for this time of game you have to take risks and the players can gave us their availability to play. Now we have to try to manage very well because he played and was lucky to finish the game but he finished the game with great will and desire.

"For this reason it is right to say thanks to him and Pierre. I think Cuti needed to recover better but Pierre is OK 100%. Cuti is OK but we have another important game on Tuesday and for this reason we try to make the best decision for him."

Romero also didn't train ahead of the Marseille match.

Expected return date: Liverpool (H), November 6th.

Dejan Kulusevski

The Swedish winger hasn't been available since the most recent international break in September and remained out of action on the south coast as well as not training ahead of the match in the south of France.

There remains fear that he won't be back in action before the World Cup after injuring his thigh last month.

Expected return date: Unknown
