The first bus service of the newly formed KSRTC-SWIFT, a legally independent company for operating long-distance buses of KSRTC for 10 years, will be flagged off by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on April 11.
Out of 116 buses bought under the new entity, 99 buses, the registration of which were completed so far, were brought to the KSRTC-SWIFT headquarters at Anayara in Thiruvananthapuram.
Steps have been taken to get the permit for the buses. Of the 99 buses that arrived here, 28 were AC buses. Of these, 8 buses are AC sleeper and 20 buses are AC semi sleeper buses. This is the first time that the State government is launching sleeper buses. The first service from Thiruvananthapuram to Bengaluru would be inaugurated at a function to be presided over by Transport Minister Antony Raju at Thampanoor KSRTC terminal.
The return service of the bus would be flagged by the Minister from Bengaluru on April 12. The bus services to other major cities inside and outside Kerala will be launched along with the Bengaluru service. An online reservation system for this would be made available soon, said a release.
