Kristi Noem, the nominee for the Department of Homeland Security, expressed concerns about the security of the southern border during a recent hearing. When asked by Sen. Josh Hawley if the border is secure, Noem responded that it is not currently secure. She emphasized the need for President Donald J. Trump to take action to secure the border once he assumes office.

Noem also addressed specific immigration programs, such as the CBP One app, which allows migrants to be paroled into the U.S. She stated her intention to shut down the app on her first day as secretary, citing the importance of preserving data to track individuals entering the country. Additionally, she highlighted the parole processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans (CHNV) as programs that need to be eliminated to ensure compliance with legal immigration laws.
