Krispy Kreme launches three new flavours for King's coronation with free doughnut giveaway

Krispy Kreme has launched three brand new flavours to celebrate the coronation of King Charles - and is also giving away free doughnuts. The limited edition new arrivals are inspired by three classic British sweet treats and desserts and will be available for one week only.

The Berry Bakewell doughnuts are a new twist on Bakewell tart, filled with raspberry and almond while the Lemon Shortbread Krispy Kreme is topped with vanilla frosting and shortcake biscuit pieces. "The most indulgent of the trio", according to the bakery company, is the King's Trifle with a strawberry and custard filling and royal purple topping.

Krispy Kreme says: "It’s time to celebrate coronation weekend with a brand-new trio of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. They’re melt-in-your-mouth fresh and fluffy, and are sure to put a smile on anyone’s face; these doughnuts are not to be trifled with!"

The new doughnuts will be available as singles or in a Coronation 4 pack (£9.25) in selected Sainsbury's stores. There will also be a Coronation Dozen (£19.95) including three of the special editions and three original glazed doughnuts.

The full range is:

Berry Bakewell (from £2.95) - Raspberry filling and almond Kreme, iced and adorned with a glazed cherry.

Lemon Shortbread (from £2.95) - Dipped in lemon icing, with shortcake biscuit pieces on a swirl of vanilla frosting

King's Trifle (from £2.95) - Strawberry and custard filling with a royal purple icing and topped with a chocolate crown

The coronation doughnuts will only be available from May 1 to 8. Krispy Kreme is also giving away a dozen original glazed doughnuts at its stores every 60 minutes over the bank holiday. The promotion is for Krispy Kreme Rewards members and shoppers need to show their Reward app to redeem.
