Kris Boyd in Rangers confession over Alfredo Morelos as pundit convinced the comeback is on

Confident Kris Boyd believes Rangers are right in it against Braga despite a tough 1-0 Europa League quarter final first leg defeat.

Gio van Bronckhorst 's side started brightly but huffed and puffed for long spells as Abel Ruiz's first half strike separates the sides at the halfway stage.

Rangers know they must produce when they welcome their rivals to Ibrox for the return next Thursday night.

And Boyd believes all is not lost but knows his former team must find a way to thrive without injured Alfredo Morelos for the rest of the season.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: “It wasn’t Rangers best performance especially in Europe. They have reached heights that I don’t even think Rangers fans would have thought Rangers could get to in Europe.

“Tonight wasn’t their best performance but the tie is still alive. I still fancy their chances to overturn the deficit when they get Braga back to Ibrox next week.

“It wasn’t the best performance. A lot of it, even tonight, I kept mentioning that Rangers were missing Alfredo Morelos. There is no point. He isn’t going to be there.

“Rangers are going to have to find solutions to overcome teams. I felt as if when Giovanni van Bronckhorst made the substitutions just after the hour there was a difference to Rangers play.

“They were able to get James Tavernier further up the pitch and he is crucial to what Rangers want to do, how they want to play and create opportunities.

“The final ball was just lacking tonight, but Rangers will fancy their chances of overturning this.”
