KRIS BOYD has branded any talk of postponing a league fixture ahead of Rangers' Champions League showdown with PSV as "idiotic".
Ibrox legend Ally McCoist called for such action after Eredivisie allowed PSV a free weekend between both legs to aid preperations.
Boyd does not see eye-to-eye with McCoist on the proposal and he believes Rangers will benefit from the league fixture in between.
He wrote in The Sun: "Some people claim it would be sensible to postpone Rangers’ match with Hibs next weekend. I’ve got the opposite view on this idea — it would be IDIOTIC.
"News of PSV negotiating a free weekend between the Champions League play-off ties led to calls for Rangers to do the same.
"Can someone please explain why this would be a good idea just two weeks into the season? Seriously, I’ve never heard so much nonsense in my life.
"My stance on this debate is simple — play the Hibs game and get some vital minutes into the legs.
"I don’t see why Gers would need — or want — the Hibs game called off.
"Physically, the schedule is fine. The fixtures line up on Tuesday-Saturday-Wednesday.
"It’s not like Rangers’ squad are having to take a long-haul flight to Kazakhstan or anything.
"It will probably take them longer to get to Leith by bus than it will to fly over to Eindhoven.
"There is ideal recovery time between the games and I can pretty much guarantee you the players would rather be playing at "Easter Road than be at the Rangers training centre.
"We are two weeks into the season. They want more match action — not less.
"I could understand the argument for a postponement to help with Europe if it was late in the season and the Rangers squad had already played 50-plus games.
"At these times, the SPFL should be doing all they can to help our clubs succeed.
"But this is a totally different scenario. The Rangers players need extra match sharpness — not rest."
