Krept breaks silence after being stabbed backstage in knife row at Radio 1xtra Live

Rapper Krept has broken his silence saying "God was with me" after he was viciously slashed backstage at Radio 1Xtra Live.

The backstage brawl shut down the event on Saturday night, held at the Arena Birmingham, as police swarmed the stage.

This morning the 29-year-old London rapper took to Twitter to reassure fans.

He wrote: "My people thanks for the messages I'm good, I'll be back in no time. God was with me trust me. Cant keep a good man down."

The event featuring performers including Nigerian singer Wizkid and London rapper Ms Banks was plagued with violence with videos showing fighting before the gig was stopped.

A spokesman for the BBC said: “Following an isolated serious incident, we have had to stop 1Xtra Live in Birmingham.

"We are co-operating fully with the police to establish what has happened.”

It isn't clear what the cause of the backstage brawl was but meant Krept, real name Casyo Johnson, was left with slash wounds.

He did not need further medical treatment but the show was halted as investigations continued.

Konan, who performs with Krept, confirmed his involvement on Twitter.

As social media began to falsely claim Krept was seriously injured, Konan, real name Karl Wilson, tweeted at midnight: "Bros good"..

West Midlands police tweeted: "Security @ArenaBirmingham alerted police to an assault which took place in the backstage area at 10pm on Saturday.

"It's understood that a man sustained a slash wound during the assault. He was treated by on site medical staff and did not require hospital treatment."

Today they confirmed there have been no arrests over Krept's attack but said in a separate incident a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a knife at door six of the arena

In a follow-up statement, 1Xtra added: "We’re sorry to everyone who attended 1Xtra Live in Birmingham for the early finish, however the health and safety of everyone involved is always our top priority.

"We are upset and saddened that something like this should happen to a guest at one of our events and we remain in close contact and continue to offer our full support.”
