Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov addressed questions regarding the recent terror attack in Moscow during a call with journalists on Monday. When asked if the attack indicated a failure by Russia's intelligence services, Peskov emphasized that the threat of terrorism is a global challenge that no city or country is completely immune to. He highlighted the continuous efforts of the intelligence services in dealing with various threats and challenges faced by the country.
Peskov stressed the importance of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism but noted that such cooperation seemed lacking. He refrained from commenting on whether any warnings had been received from the United States regarding the risk of terror attacks in Russia. Reports indicated that there had been intelligence suggesting ISIS-Khorasan's intent to carry out attacks in Russia.
Regarding intelligence sharing, Peskov clarified that such information is typically exchanged between intelligence agencies and not directly with the Kremlin due to its sensitive nature. He mentioned that the Russian services operate independently and stated that there were no current discussions or contacts with Western countries for assistance in light of the warnings received.
