Kremlin's Reaction To Biden's Decision May Shift With Trump's Presidency

President Donald Trump shake hands with Russian President Vladimir Putin

The incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump may complicate the Kremlin’s reaction to President Joe Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to strike targets deep inside Russia with US-made weapons. According to Russian political analyst Alexey Naumov, while Russian officials have warned of a severe response to such a move, Naumov believes that the Kremlin's reaction may not escalate to a full-scale level.

Naumov suggested that the Kremlin might give Donald Trump time to reassess and potentially adjust the policy once he takes office in just over two months. Trump has expressed a desire to end the conflict in Ukraine swiftly, but his specific approach remains unclear at this point.

Although Trump himself has not commented on Biden’s decision, his son, Donald Trump Jr., has criticized it, accusing the Military Industrial Complex of pushing for a potential World War 3 before his father can work towards peace and saving lives.

Naumov pointed out that the looming prospect of a Trump administration and the chance that Trump could reverse Biden’s decision might lead the Kremlin to show restraint and avoid escalating the situation to its full potential.
