The next entry in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) will be Kraven the Hunter, which opens in theaters on December 13, 2024. Early box office estimates suggest Kraven will struggle to churn a profit. Below are the opening weekend odds for Kraven the Hunter’s domestic box office.
Kraven the Hunter: What Is It About?
Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars as Sergei Kravinoff, a.k.a. Kraven, a hunter with superhuman strength, speed, and agility. Instead of hunting animals, Kraven hunts people, including poachers, criminals, and gangsters.
Kraven will one day become one of Spider-Man’s fiercest adversaries.
Kraven has a complicated relationship with his estranged father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), a powerful crime lord. Per Sony, this tumultuous relationship “starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world but also one of its most feared.”
Kraven the Hunter’s ensemble includes Ariana DeBose as Calypso Ezili, Fred Hechinger as Dmitri Smerdyakov/Chameleon, Alessandro Nivola as Aleksei Sytsevich/Rhino, and Christopher Abbott as the Foreigner.
J. C. Chandor directs Kraven the Hunter from a screenplay by Richard Wenk, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway.
