The Kozhikode beach is gearing up to witness the first anniversary celebrations of the second Left Democratic Front (LDF) government led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The celebrations are taking place from April 19 to 26 at the Freedom Square and open stage besides the vast space on the beach. The cleaning of the beach has started as part of the celebrations while the construction of stalls and other structures are yet to begin.
The celebrations will feature various seminars on topics relevant to the State by experts in the field. There will be cultural programmes every evening, in which celebrated artistes from all over the State as well as other parts of the country are expected to perform. The pavilion on the beach will feature around 250 stalls which will be occupied by various government departments, showcasing the achievements of the government. There will also be a few business stalls, sources said. Besides, there will be a food court considering the status of Kozhikode as the food capital of the State.
Several events such as photography and short video contests are being held as part of the celebrations. The selected photos and videos from these contests will be showcased at the beach during the celebrations.
