Kourtney Kardashian hints at past battle to be perfect before meeting Travis Barker

Kourtney Kardashian has been getting mysterious on social media, seemingly hinting at a past struggle for perfection.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star - who fans suspect has already married fiancé Travis Barker - has been musing about being 'perfect' and 'good', while posting some stony-faced selfie clips.

The mum-of-three, 42, took to Instagram on Thursday to share some arty footage of herself, alongside a cryptic quote.

Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong's Dream A Little Dream Of Me acted as a soundtrack for Kourtney's latest Instagram update to her 163 million followers.

In the short clip, Kourtney can be seen sitting in a fluffy white towel - showing off a chic black bob and a full face of make-up as the camera zooms in on her.

"and now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good," the reality TV star captioned the post - a quote from John Steinbeck's East of Eden.

The Nobel Prize winner's 1952 novel follows the lives of two families, the Trasks and the Hamiltons, and their interwoven stories.

"That's right Kourt. A big load off your shoulders to not having to feel perfect all the time," one of the star's followers commented underneath the mysterious post on Wednesday.

"You’re beautiful. Always have been."

"But you are perfect," another added, while a third quipped: "Most interesting to look at."

Prior to striking up an unlikely romance with soon-to-be husband Travis Barker, Kourtney had enjoyed an on-off relationship with the father of her children, Scott Disick.

Speaking last year, Kourtney confessed she and Scott may still be together had they not shared so much of their lives on television.

The former couple were in a turbulent relationship together since meeting at a house party in Mexico in 2005 until their split in 2015.

Since splitting for good, they amicably co-parent three children; Mason, Penelope and Reign - even still holidaying together as a family at times.

Last June, American presenter Andy Cohen asked Kourtney: ""Do you think your relationship [with Scott] might have turned out differently if you hadn't shared so much of it?"

"Probably," the Poosh founder declared during a special interview to commemorate the end of Keeping Up.

Her answer shocked sister Kim Kardashian who exclaimed "Really?" before Kourtney went on to give a little more detail to her statement.

She added: "But I think the substance abuse was the deal breaker."

In the very first season of Keeping Up it was revealed that the on-off couple almost tied the knot in 2007 while on a trip to Las Vegas but momager Kris Jenner intervened and convinced Kourtney to wait.

Kourtney is now planning her nuptials to Blink-182 drummer Travis - after the rock star popped the question in October last year.

Travis, 45, proposed to his beau at a beachside hotel - using a large arrangement of roses and candles on the beach to set the mood, before getting down on one knee and asking the star to be his wife.
