Kota: Youth held for raping teen for 6 months

KOTA: A 16-year-old girl was repeatedly raped by her 27-year-old neighbour since April in a village under Khatoli police station of Kota while her mother accompanied by her brother had gone to Jaipur for her cancer treatment.

The crime came to light on Monday last week when the survivor suffered from abdomen ache and her parents took her to a local hospital, where the doctors diagnosed her with seven months pregnancy prompting the parents the to lodge a case of rape the next day.

The case was filed under sections of IPC, POCSO and ST/SC Act against the accused identified as Chandrashakhar Sharma alias Chandu (27), resident of Main Bazaar road, Khatoli in Kota.

Since then the accused has been on run.

A special team formed by Kota (Rural) SP Kavendra Singh Sagar under ASP Praveen Jain arrested the accused on Monday night and initiated further investigation into the case.

"The 16-year-old survivor, a IX Class student, had stated in the report that her mother was suffering from cancer and had left for Jaipur for cancer treatment with her brother on April 12 this year," said Rameshwar Prasad, SHO, Khatoli police station.
