Kostecki, Erebus saga continues with sponsor quitting

Erebus Motorsport's Supercars season has continued to descend into chaos, with title sponsor Coca-Cola withdrawing their support of the team in the wake of Brodie Kostecki's looming exit.

Reigning champion Kostecki appears set to quit the team and sit out the upcoming campaign after a dramatic falling out with Erebus management, just months after delivering them a title.

The team, who have been contacted for comment, have previously confirmed the 26-year-old will sit out the opening round of the season in Bathurst later this month, but haven't addressed his status for the rest of the year.

Coca-Cola have seen enough, announcing on Monday they had reached the "difficult decision" to end their sponsorship immediately.

"We wish Erebus Motorsport and the drivers every success for the 2024 season and beyond," a Coca-Cola Europacific Partners spokesperson said in a statement.

"This decision relates only to our partnership with Erebus Motorsport and does not affect other existing agreements we have with the Australian Supercars Championship and Australian motorsport more broadly.

"We have a long and proud history of supporting Australian motorsport spanning more than 50 years and look forward to building on this through our existing and future partnerships in the sport."

Two other sponsors - Shaw and Partners and Southern Cross Truck Rentals - have confirmed they've also pulled their support, representatives of the latter describing the team's treatment of Kostecki as "disingenuous".

Todd Hazelwood will race in Kostecki's place in Bathurst on February 24 and 25, leaving Erebus with an all-new driving line-up after Will Brown left in the off-season to join powerhouse outfit Red Bull Ampol.

Kostecki won last season's championship in dominant fashion, claiming six individual race wins for his maiden title.
