Kostas Tsimikas 'wanted' by European giant as Liverpool squad strength proven

Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas has been touted with a move away from Anfield, via reports in Italy.

The 25-year-old has consistently produced impressive performances throughout the season, in his role as Andy Robertson’s understudy at left-back. The ‘Greek Scouuser’ has made 21 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side this term, providing six assists, and was recently named Man of the Match in Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final tie with Benfica.

As Divock Origi proved against Everton at the weekend , even having a bit-part role in this current Liverpool squad is a sign of a high-quality player. And it has been claimed that Tsimikas' noteworthy displays have attracted interest from Juventus.

Caught Offside reports , via Juve Dipendenza, that the full-back is “wanted” by the Italian club. It is further suggested that Juventus would be “willing to pay” £11m for Tsimikas, a similar fee to what Liverpool paid Olympiacos for the Greek international in 2020.

The defender was initially restricted to just two cameo appearances in the Premier League in his first season with the Reds as Tsimikas battled injury issues and covid-19; while Jurgen Klopp contended with the club’s centre-back crisis last term. Though Tsimikas has since proved to be an integral part of Liverpool’s quadruple-chasing squad, the full-back is unlikely to oust Andy Robertson from his left-back berth in the short-term.

However, Tsimikas shared how happy he was at Liverpool after the club’s FA Cup victory over Norwich last month. “Liverpool is for me the best club in the world,” he said . “When I play I give absolutely everything.

"When they give me the chance, I want to be the best player and I think that's the same for all the boys. The crowd one more time was unbelievable. I enjoy a lot playing in front of them.”

He added: "For this team, every competition is very important, no matter if we play in the Carabao Cup or FA Cup, we play for the same goal. We want to win the trophy."
