The Korean Cultural Center will bring various styles of hanbok, the Korean traditional costume, to showcase during "Hanbok In K-series" exhibition, which kicks off on Monday and runs until April 29.
The exhibition is rather unique as it will take visitors back to ancient times to witness the beautiful costumes as seen in the two popular TV Series, The King's Affection and The Red Sleeve.
This is also a chance to try on hanbok and take pictures with gorgeous scenes from the two historical dramas and have fun with Korea's popular traditional games -- tuho (arrow throwing) and jegichagi (kicking a shuttlecock).
The exhibition will open with a hanbok fashion show featuring unusual hanbok, such as gonryongpo (royal robe), gwanbok (official uniform) and dopo (noblemen's robes).
They will be presented by many honorary models on the catwalk. They include South Korean Ambassador to Thailand Moon Seoung-hyun, national taekwondo team coach Chatchai Choi, Olympic gold medalist Panipak "Tennis" Wongpattanakit, former beauty queen Chananporn Rosjan and DJ Bookko.
After the show, there will be a gayaguem (Korean zither with 12 silk strings) performance rendered by instructor Kim Hyun-ji and giwonmoo, a Korean traditional dance for national prosperity and the welfare of the people. It will be performed by Lee Ji-seon, an adjunct professor at Hanyang University in South Korea.
The fashion show will take place today at 2pm and will be streamed live on the centre's YouTube channel.
The exhibition is open for viewing on weekdays from 9am to 5pm at the Korean Cultural Center, between Sukhumvit 15 and 17. There is no admission fee.
For any couples wishing to wear wedding hanbok and have a Korean traditional wedding, they are invited to send their love story and the reason to the centre via kccthailand@gmail.com. The centre will provide a ceremony for selected couples on March 25.
