When the Atlanta Falcons announced the jersey numbers for their 2023 draft class a few weeks ago, fans were surprised to learn rookie running back Bijan Robinson would be wearing the No. 7.
Not only is this the infamous number of former Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, it’s also the number that Younghoe Koo has worn for the last four seasons. Koo has since switched to the No. 6, but many wondered how Robinson was able to persuade Atlanta’s Pro Bowl kicker into giving up his number.
It turns out, Koo didn’t request any money but asked Robinson to pick a charity and make a donation, Falcons digital editor Scott Bair reported on Wednesday.
Younghoe Koo said he didn’t ask Bijan Robinson to pay him for No. 7. He asked Bijan to pick a charity down the line and make a donation.

It’s an honorable move by Koo, whose consistent production since signing with Atlanta in 2019 has set the tone for the Falcons on special teams. Koo’s play on the field helped him secure a five-year extension last offseason.
As for Robinson, it’s going to be exciting to see the rookie wearing the iconic number for the Falcons in 2023. Here’s a teaser of Robinson debuting the jersey during rookie minicamp.
