Kon Knueppel made one of the smartest plays you’ll ever see on a basketball court on Monday night against NC State and it had nothing to do with a basketball.
Well, kind of.
NBA MOCK DRAFT: See where Knueppel and his freshman phenom teammate, Cooper Flagg, fall in our latest mock draft.
With just over three minutes left in a tight might with NC State, Knueppel made what might have been the play of the game.
His teammate, Tyrese Proctor, caught the ball as it was careening out of bounds. His momentum was carrying him to the boundary line along with the ball. Another second and he’s probably turning the ball over back to NC State with a chance to tie the game or cut into the lead potentially.
But, thanks to Knueppel’s quick thinking, the possession was saved.
Knueppel grabbed his teammate’s leg and reset his balance before he could fall out of bounds.

Look at how close this was.
What a play. It’s a small thing. It’s not necessarily a bucket or a crucial assist or anything like that, but this is just as big.
Proctor got fouled and went to the free-throw line to extend the lead a bit more after this.
Shoutout to Kon for making this heads-up play. That’s a great teammate.
