Kodaline singer on why performing in Belfast will always have a special place in their hearts

The lead singer of Irish rock band Kodaline said he cannot wait to be back performing to Belfast crowds this summer.

Kodaline return to the CHSq stage in August and fans can expect an exceptional show as they return to the city that has a "special place" in their hearts.

Speaking to Belfast Live, singer Steve Garrigan reflected on the band's special connection to Northern Irish crowds and what is in store for fans coming to the show.

Steve said: "Belfast has always been a really important place to us - its a place we love and some of the best gigs we've ever played have been in Belfast

"Custom House Square we've played quite a few times and every time have, the crowd has been amazing and the last time we were there in 2021, we hadn't played a gig in a while and just going on that stage and seeing the reaction still to this day is probably one of my favourite gigs.

"One of our first gigs ever was in McHughs just off the square and again is a really memorable one for us."

It has been ten years since the band released their first album and Steve said it was "crazy how fast time goes" when following their passion and doing what they love.

"I think this is the longest we've gone without releasing new music," he explained.

"We released an acoustic live album last year which was something that we always wanted to do and it was amazing."

He added that fans can hopefully expect a new album hopefully next year but in the meantime can join them on their tour to hear their already beloved tunes live and in person.

Steve continued: "Belfast has a special place in our hearts - the crowds are always up for a good time and a good show and it's been amazing so far so I hope that it always continues.

"If the shows that we have already played in Belfast are anything to go by, hopefully it will be like those but even better."
