KOCHI: A woman from Kannur has filed a complaint with Kochi city police commissioner alleging that she was raped by filmmaker P Balachandrakumar, whose revelations led to a further investigation in the actor rape case. The complaint was filed by the woman who came to the commissioner’s office, along with her lawyer, on Saturday.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that she was raped by the accused in 2010. She stated that she went to a house in Puthukalavattom to meet him and the accused forced himself on her.
As per the complaint, the survivor, a home nurse, said that she happened to meet a person at a restaurant in Thrissur when she was working there. He introduced himself as a person working in the film industry. When she asked him about a possible job opportunity, that person gave her the mobile number of another person named Balu. When she called this number, Balu asked her to come to Ernakulam, states the complaint.
As per the complaint, she came to Ernakulam via train and boarded an auto rickshaw to reach the house where the accused was staying. Later, while talking the man placed his arms on her body and the outraged woman tried to leave. As per the compliant, the man then raped her.
After the ordeal, the woman told him that she will take legal action. However, the man then showed her a video clip of the assault as he had recorded it using a hidden camera. Fearing that he will make it public, she decided not to approach the police with a complaint then, she said in her complaint.
The woman further said that after seeing Balachandrakumar on TV channels in connection with his comments about the actor rape case, she recognised him as the person named Balu who raped her over 10 years ago. The complaint says that she was coming out with a complaint now as she was outraged by his comments about morality when he himself perpetrated such a crime against her and wanted to expose him in public.
Following the revelations of Balachandrakumar, further investigation is going on in the actor rape case in which the trial is progressing in-camera. A second case was registered against actor Dileep as well based on the director’s revelations.
Based on the complaint, Elamakkara police lodged an FIR later in the day.
