New Delhi: Although there are more than 5000 IPS officers in India, only a few them are known within the country as well as abroad for their proficiency and courage. And one of those names is Amitabh Yash. He is a 1996 batch IPS of UP cadre.
Six years ago, Dynamite News did an exclusive half-an-hour interview with him in its popular talk show 'Ek Mulakat' wherein he had told in detail some of the important things about his policing.

As soon as one o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, the news went viral that the UP STF had killed Asad, son of mafia Atiq Ahmed and his shooter partner Ghulam in an encounter in Jhansi, Amitabh Yash and UP STF started trending on Twitter.
Asad and Ghulam were involved in Prayagraj's Umesh Pal murder case and carried a reward of Rs.5 lakh each.
When Corona was wreaking havoc in the country, in July 2020, the Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh was shaken by the murder of 8 police personnel in public by dreaded criminal Vikas Dubey. At that time when the credibility of the UP Police was at stake, Amitabh Yash's team was the big talking point after Vikas Dubey's encounter.
Amitabh Yash's father Ramyash Singh, who is known as an encounter specialist throughout the country, has also been a well-known IPS of Bihar cadre. Born on 11 April 1971 in Patna, Amitabh is originally from Bhojpur district.
The biggest achievement of Amitabh, who has done more than 150 encounters, is to free the Chambal area of Uttar Pradesh from dreaded dacoits.
There was a time when there was terror of dacoits in this area. Amitabh took the challenge and gunned down dacoits like Dadua and Thokiya after combing in the jungle for months.
Amitabh, who has been SSP in a dozen big and challenging districts like Noida, Kanpur in UP, is considered an expert in dealing with riots.
