A SEA of red and blue will be the scene at McDonald Jones Stadium with sell out crowds for a monumental double header and the Newcastle Knights' Old Boys day on Sunday, September 8.
Once a Knights Old Boys annual day has been a perennial highlight on the Knights' calendar since 1988 and is a celebration of the club's former players, officials and support staff.
It's held annually at the Knights final home game of the season which will see the NRL team take on the Dolphins at 4.05pm.
The NRLW side will then play a semi-final rematch against the Brisbance Broncos at 6.15pm.
The games are sold out and if all click through the gates, McDonald Jones Stadium could see a crowd of 30,000 spectators.
"We will thank our amazing members with Member Appreciation Round this Sunday, while also celebrating Old Boys Day as former Knights come from near and far to form the famous guard of honour," a Newcastle Knights spokesperson said.
Every year there is a theme for the Newcastle Knights' Old Boys day, and this year they will be honouring their Pacific Islands players.
Inaugural Knights skipper Sam Stewart is expected to attend the annual reunion, after playing a trail-blazing role for Polynesians during Newcastle's foundation seasons.
Stewart and fellow Kiwis Tony Kemp, James Goulding, George Mann and Tea Ropati were a bold gamble by Knights coach Allan McMahon, but with the benefit of hindsight, "Macca" was ahead of his time.
Fijian flyer Akuila Uate is another who is certain to be warmly received by fans, along with other former crowd-pleasers including Richie Fa'aoso, Cooper Vuna, Zeb Taia, Mark Taufua, Craig Smith and the Mata'utia brothers.
