Newcastle Knights and their partners shone on the red carpet, after a stellar week of play and an already sold-out final this weekend.
The annual Knights NRL Awards night kicked off at 6pm Tuesday, where players were recognised at club-level before the Dally M and RLPA Players' Champion awards roll this month.
Like years before, players and their partners were in their best glitz and glamour for the occasion.
Skipper Kalyn Ponga was recognised for his stunning season turnaround and leading the team's charge into the NRL finals, winning the 2023 Danny Buderus Medal.
Ponga, despite missing five games earlier this season and the win over the Dragons on Saturday, scooped the club's player-of-the-year award for a third time in six years on Tuesday night.
A large host of awards - more than 12, in fact - were up for grabs, including:
- Knight in Shining Armour Award
- Community Player of the Year
- Jersey Flegg Players' Player
- Jersey Flegg Player of the Year
- NSW Cup Players' Player
- NSW Cup Player of the Year
- NRL Debutants
- NRL Milestones
- Departing Players
- Gladiator of the Year
- Rookie of the Year
- Club person of the year
- NRL Players' Player
- NRL Player of the Year: Danny Buderus Medal
The prestigious Danny Buderus Medal for the Knights Player of the Year, was taken out by second-rower Tyson Frizell in 2022.
